It’s official, the second Excel-Class ship from Carnival Cruise Lines began her sea trials today, September 5, 2022! The Carnival Celebration began construction in January of 2021 and makes her official debut this fall.
Our friend Harrison from the Carnival Guest Services Team posted this awesome selfie with the Carnival Celebration behind him.
Additionally, Harrison shared a photo of the beautiful ship with John Heald who posted on his Facebook page this morning:
The Carnival Celebration was constructed by Meyer Turku and is the sister to Mardi Gras from Carnival Cruise Line. Mardi Gras made history with several firsts for the cruise line and industry. She was the first ship in the world to feature a roller coaster (Bolt: Ultimate Sea Coaster) and was the first ship in North American to be fueled by LNG.
Carnival Celebration follows in Mardi Gras’ footsteps and will be fueled by LNG, feature the Bolt roller coaster, and weighs in at 180,000 GT with a max passenger capacity of 6,500.
Unlike her sister, Carnival Celebration will feature several new zones and bars that pay homage to Carnival’s home of Miami, Florida and the line’s 50 years of service. Carnival Celebration will feature a ton of history from across the Carnival Cruise Line fleet and she truly lives up to her namesake being released during Carnival Cruise Line’s 50th year in operation.
Check out the video below that goes into greater detail about the differences between the Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration.
