Last week, we shared that MSC Cruises launched a new top loyalty tier called Blue Diamond. We shared all the details and perks included in this newly introduced tier. This week, we’re taking a look at how to earn points in the MSC Voyagers Club loyalty program and look at just how easy (or difficult?) it is to reach the newly introduced Blue Diamond membership level. So let’s find out how to earn Blue Diamond status on MSC Cruises!
Earning Blue Diamond
Now that we’ve sold you on the benefits of MSC Voyagers Club Blue Diamond membership, you might be wondering, “How do I reach this level of status?” With Blue Diamond membership being the absolute highest level of status for MSC, it requires a whopping 25,000 points to achieve.
Here’s the key: The more money you spend with the cruise line, the more points you receive! Let’s take a look at how to earn Blue Diamond membership:
Booking Type
The type of booking you make with MSC determines the base points you’ll be awarded for your reservation.
Bella Experience
- for cruises consisting of less than 5 nights or 6 days: 200 points are awarded;
- for cruises consisting of 5 to 9 nights or 6 to 10 days: 500 points are awarded;
- for cruises consisting of over 9 nights or 10 days: 700 points are awarded.
Fantastica Experience
- for cruises consisting of less than 5 nights or 6 days: 400 points are awarded;
- for cruises consisting of 5 to 9 nights or 6 to 10 days: 700 points are awarded;
- for cruises consisting of over 9 nights or 10 days: 1,000 points are awarded.
Aurea Experience
- for cruises consisting of less than 5 nights or 6 days: 600 points are awarded;
- for cruises consisting of 5 to 9 nights or 6 to 10 days: 1,000 points are awarded;
- for cruises consisting of over 9 nights or 10 days: 1,500 points are awarded.
MSC Yacht Club
- for cruises consisting of less than 5 nights or 6 days: 800 points are awarded;
- for cruises consisting of 5 to 9 nights or 6 to 10 days: 1,500 points are awarded;
- for cruises consisting of over 9 nights or 10 days: 2,000 points are awarded.
World Cruise Bookings
Got plenty of PTO to burn and thinking about booking a 116-night MSC World Cruise? The World Cruise sailings earn 3x the points based on your booking type. For example, if you book the Bella experience on your world cruise, you would earn 700 x 3 or 2,100 points. Thinking about booking the Yacht Club on your world cruise? That’ll score you a whopping 6,000 points!
Pre-Paid Onboard Services Spend
When you make purchases prior to your cruise, you can earn points toward your Blue Diamond status. Booking food, beverage, excursions, spa, fitness, and other services will earn you 100 points for every $150 you spend. Keep in mind, “Expenses for on board services pre-paid before the cruise per cabin which apply to all cabin occupants (and not single occupants) will be equally distributed amongst the cabin occupants.” MSC gives the example that if you spend $600 pre-cruise for services that apply to all cabin occupants, “If there are four cabin occupants, the spending for the points calculation of each cabin occupant will be $150, equal to 100 points.”
Points for onboard services that apply to a single cabin occupant will be assigned to the individual member who pre-paid for the service. MSC gives the example that if you spend $600 pre-cruise for services that apply to a single occupant, “In order to assign the points, the total amount will be divided by 150 resulting in 400 points.”
Bonus Points
In addition to the earnings mentioned above, MSC gives cruisers the ability to earn a variety of bonus points on each booking.
Add a Package to the Booking
Members who book a cruise with package included will earn additional bonus points!
- 200 Points for the beverage package
- 100 Points for any other packages
Members who book a cruise with the beverage package and an internet package will receive 300 bonus points. We love this as we always choose to book the bundled options when sailing MSC!
Yacht Club is excluded from these bonus points as the beverage and internet packages are already included.
Update Your Contact Details
Members who update or confirm contact information (email, phone number, address) within 72 hours of a confirmed booking receive 100 bonus points.
MSC shares that you can “update or confirm the contact details in the online personal area or through the Web Check-in.”
Birthday Points
Members that book a cruise within 3 months of their birthday automatically receive an additional 200 bonus points. Happy Birthday to you!
Early Access to New and MSC Voyagers Club Promotions
There may be additional offers and promotions that MSC adds throughout the year that earn bonus points. The total amount of points “will be communicated via email as temporary promotion with dedicated conditions.”
Earning 25,000 MSC Voyagers Club Points to Reach Blue Diamond
Let’s take a look at just how easy (or difficult?) it’ll be to earn the 25,000 points you need to reach Blue Diamond membership:
- One 10-day Yacht Club Sailing: 2,000 points
- One 7-day Yacht Club Sailings 1,500 points
- One 5-night Aurea Sailing within 3 months of your birthday: 1,000 + 300 = 1,300 points

- Combined pre-cruise spending of $1,500: 1,500/150 = 1,000 points

Total Points Earned: 12,100 points

Final Thoughts
We here at This Cruise Life have big DREAMS of reaching Blue Diamond membership! But now that we know how to earn Blue Diamond status on MSC Cruises, the math reminds us that it’s going to take awhile from our current 7,600 points. 😉 Of course, that doesn’t mean we’re not going to try!
If you didn’t know, we’re booked on the inaugural sailing of MSC World America in 2025! We’ll be sharing all of our thoughts about this ship, including a ship tour, over on our YouTube Channel. If you haven’t already, be sure to hit that subscribe button so you know when all of those videos get published.
Also stay tuned to the blog for an upcoming post about the MSC Voyagers Club Loyalty Program where we’ll review each of the levels and the value you’ll find in being a member. Afterall, we can’t ALL be Blue Diamond members… not yet anyway! 😉
* To come up with total spend, we completed mock bookings through 2025 and 2026 in the specified categories. With the exception of the Yacht Club and Aurea sailings, we selected inside staterooms for our mock bookings. Offers and promotions will impact total dollars spent and you should check with your travel agent for the latest offers.
